Saturday Morning Cartoons with Cereal, written and performed by Chris Herbie Holland is a meditation on life as a young Black man in America. The piece uses remixes of theme songs from cartoons that were influential on Holland's childhood as beat tracks for the raps that make up the story of Cereal, and as the play progresses, the tracks shift towards a heavier tone - leaving behind the whimsy of early childhood for more mature themes and ideas. The lighting design mimics the aesthetic of a mix between 90's Nickelodeon cartoons and a Migos concert, with saturate color that works in conjunction with the projections to follow Holland's journey throughout the play.
