Phaedra's Love by Sarah Kane is a blunt and vulgar adaptation of Seneca’s Phaedra, a seemingly joyous birthday celebration that descends into a harrowing tale of passion, delusion, domination, and the tangled webs of human brutality. The lighting design of this play accentuates and heightens the violence present in the language and physicality of the play - from the coldness of Hippolytus through to the bloody mutilation and barbecue in the final scenes of the play.
